Workcamps 2010Event
Description
DATES STILL UNCONFIRMEDA project in Craiova, our "Wild Roses Hill House" that we are building right now for our Anthroposophic branch in Craiova. Craiova is the capital of Oltenia, the southern region of Romania.
The house was robbed two times, police said they are so sorry, but it is too far away, so, it's very exciting and adventurous, the Wild Roses Hill. We can use that to advertise: The too-far-for-the-police project! Sound interesting enough for young people to come?”
The closest house on the way to Craiova is one and a half km away to the south of our building, in all other directions there is countryside. The house is on the highest point to the north. Craiova lies to the south of Wild Roses Hill. Not very many volunteers are needed, not more than 8, so they can be properly accommodated with everything they need in two apartments in Craiova (Though they might prefer to sleep in tents or in the House on Wild Roses Hill.) The Work to be Done
In Romania, the cost of windows and doors with plastic frames would amount to about 10.000 Euros. If we buy the wood and some good carpenter builds them properly, it should be much cheaper, about 3000 Euros. After the windows and doors are ready the house can be lived in and the official papers signed. Then he can donate it, together with 1630 square meters of land to the Anthroposophic Association, as promised. The transfer will cost about 1500 Euros. After that they want to buy a wind generator for electricity, (the winds blow strongly across the hill). This costs about 1500 Euros. Solar panels would come next (2000 Euros) for both electricity and hot water. A borehole or well should cost about 1000 Euros, They don't have one as yet, though there are small surface springs on the land, about 70 meters east of the house. Venue
DescriptionThe ProjectIt started in September 2006 with personal funding from Mihai on land that he had bought. He intends to donate it to the anthroposophic association after receiving the official certificate of completion, that is after the windows and doors are ready. There is no more money now, thought over the last years the project had some donations from The Romanian Anthroposophic Society, from Romanian friends and from friends of Dirk Kruse from Germany and Austria. They are working on the roof, as you can see from the photos. The house stands 1 km outside of Craiova, right out in nature on 10 hectares of land. It came to them through a very interesting situation, almost for free (less than 3000 Euros for 10 hectares) specially to build this house.

Mihai, speaking of the workcamp, says, “Well, perhaps we should move the Wild Roses Hill's House to Africa for it to be more interesting! But it's not so different here, believe me. I just saw wild deer on the hill some days ago, there are lots of rabbits, foxes, wild tomcats, butterflies, birds - it's only elephants that we don't have.
