Why Workcamps? PDF Imprimir Correo electrónico

dsc06454A work camp is a service rendered to a project that has arisen out of the needs of a local community. It brings together people who want to do something with projects that need their input.

The projects are discovered by young people connected to Idem who have either heard about them or found them on their travels.

Others find us through this website.

A workcamp lasts for three to four weeks – or somewhat longer if need be. The number of participants can be anywhere between seven and can 35, depending on the situation.
In the case of a school class wanting to take part in a work camp, we try to find a suitable project specifically for them.

What happens locally is often unpredictable, so we have to adapt to the situation, the people and their culture.

We gain new points of view, experience new circumstances, build up a completely different relationship to our own cultural background, learn to know what is essential – what are basic standards and fundamental needs.

The local people are able to experience that foreigners come to their country in order to work alongside them rather than letting them work for them.
